@FriedChickenScatch Probably impossible. Apps wouldn’t have permission to capture the raw screen output while other apps are on the screen.

How hard is it to make an app that does this?

@lunarparcel Love to see the sample vids. Thanks.

@macmostvideo Hi Gary, my AVDCHD50 arrived and I ran some capture tests. It works like a charm recording iPad 2 HDMI via firewire to my iMac.There was some lag time as the incoming image was several seconds behind. Whether that’s due to my iMac, or the speed of the device converting to HDV, I don’t know. The end result was crystal clear hi-def recording from the iPad with no dropped frames. Definitely a viable option for those needing a FW option. I’ll post a video sample in the coming week.Thnx.

@macmostvideo Thanks, Gary. If I go that route, I’ll let you now how it works out. Take care.

@lunarparcel It shouldn’t impose any encyrption, or otherwise I wouldn’t be able to record with the Matrox either. Perhaps it does only if you play a rented video from iTunes.

HI Gary, Thanks for the great info. I got the iPad 2 expressly for the purpose of recording app and OS playback for app tutorials and promotions. I’m finding recording of this content to my iMac to be a stumbling block. As I understand it, the Matrox and Blackmagic work on the Mac Pro, but not the iMac. So I’m looking towards a firewire solution with the Grass Valley AVDCHD50. Do you know about whether iPad 2 imposes mirroring encryption making such a device non-functional for this purpose? Thnx

I have my iPad 1 Jailbroken and I’ve been able to have display mirroring with the VGA adaptor. It’s still very responsive, and even hand els Infinity Blade smoothly.

@arnolddisco Yes, but it just won’t work with the iPad 2 –> HDMI –> Matrox MX02 sequence. Had to use Boinx for that. Wirecast just shows a still image.

Boinxtv? ugh. Wirecast is MUCH better
